If water is added the concentrate swells up to about 5 times its volume, resulting in a loose substrate that absorbs bad odours and waste. Pro Rep Hemp Bedding Ref: SMH015S ProRep Hemp Bedding is a soft, fibrous substrate that is suitable for many species of snakes and tortoises as well as for small mammals. It is made from the dried chopped stem of the Hemp plant to form a highly absorbent, dust free and odourless material. Being completely biodegradable it is safe if eaten. Directions: Spread the substrate evenly over the bottom of the enclosure to a depth of at least 1-2” (2.5-5cm). Spot-clean daily and completely replace every two or three weeks, or more frequently if it becomes heavily soiled or wet. It is made from compressed straw pellets to provide a soft bedding that should not cause impaction if eaten.
